Visual Radio Update

In June I had briefly talked about Visual Radio. Its finally here in India. Nokia, HP, Radio Mirchi and Hutch launched the service first in delhi on July 25th and now Airtel is on the bandwagon as well.

Apart from the Nokia N-Series, I don't know how many other phones support Visual Radio. I had the opportunity to try out the technology (albeit on a 3G network) and it was great. If I think about the clogged GSM networks here, I am not sure how good it will be.

Having had the misfortune of listening to Radio Mirchi in Bangalore, I am not sure the content will be worth talking about as well, at least for my taste.

Hope it evolves into something better. I wouldn't mind a few Worldspace channels (fees and all) on Visual Radio though. Even podcasting through visual radio would be a good idea, I'm sure the technology for that is out there somewhere.

Now that we have visual radio, do we need RJ's or VJ's or VRJ's. A combination of good looker and good talker is pretty hard to come by. No offence intended.
