Sad News...

Mannunni died today. She seemed quite well in the morning, played, ate and sat on her favorite perch (Smitha's shoulder). Sometime in the afternoon, she was unable to move her back legs and this spread to the rest of her body. She kept licking our fingers as we stroked her and kept her warm. After about 20 minutes we realized she was not breathing. We hope she did not suffer...

Cloudburst...

I often find myself complaining about the state of affairs in the place where I stay. Flooding problems, useless security guards etc. etc.

Once in a while, sitting in the balcony on the 7th floor, there are a few sights which are priceless.

Up in the Clouds

There's this great site called the Cloud Appreciation Society.

I've added this site to my links as well.

Its got some awesome cloud images. Made me realize that I had forgotten how I once used to spend time, energy and money to get some great views of clouds.

I also remember a co-passenger of mine once asking me if I was alright in a very "concerned-about-my-mental-health" kind of tone after observing me permanently glued to the miniscule airplane window on a flight from Bangalore to Pune. She just couldn't understand what I found so interesting in clouds that prevented one from seeing the ground below.

Credit goes to Jaideep for introducing me to this place.

I got to know that Ryan has a blog through Ashi. Some good stuff. I've added his blog to my Links section as well. Definitely worth a visit, especially some of the photos.

For the record...

I have seen many visitors to my site complementing me on the color composition or the theme of the page. Thank you! I also want to go on record that the credit goes to me for choosing the readymade theme, but not for creating it.

But the seed of creating my own theme has been planted in my head and I am working on it...

Interesting bit of copy. Intentional or pure ignorance?

Thanks Devika for the discovery and photo.

Zen Replaced

Maruti Suzuki and the art of Zen replacement. The Zen is dead...long live the Zen. One of my favorites till date.

This is the Suzuki MR Wagon which is around 5 years old. Not sure if this will sell in India. But then again...the Alto (a bad excuse for a car) seems to be selling.

From the picture it looks like a Wagon R which has discovered curves. Whether these curves will attract men is debatable. Does nothing for me though.

Underground Music

http://www.dancewithshadows.com/media/sutta-zeest-bodhitree-lyrics.asp

The first time I heard one of these songs was around midnight in the garage of a small restaurant waiting for "Akki Rotti" and pork (Coorg style). The whole activity was centered around transferring the song to three other mobiles from one single mobile simultaneously using bluetooth.

Apart from the discussions on whether bluetooth allows you to connect simultaneously with more than one device and related arguments around pairing of devices, the bigger objective was to play the song simultaneously on all four mobiles with the hope that the end result would be some sort of a theatre effect with a substantial increase in volume of sound.

All further thoughts on technology and audio quality was lost the minute the song was played. A lot of appreciation went into the creation of these lyrical marvels, especially the effort in the quality of the vocals, the raag, the accompaniment and so on.

Does anyone want to delve into the deeper psychological aspects of the why's and the wherefores's of this new development?

Videoconferencing

Well, videoconferencing has been around for a while in various forms. I have had the opportunity to be a part of some of the higher end ones which are used by multi-national businesses. Here is one which seems interesting and some of the promo images I have seen remind me of some of the futuristic movies I have seen.
