Wimax in Bangalore

I had been reading and hearing about WiMax deployment in Bangalore. Starting with announcements from the state-run BSNL and Sify providing WiMax services to corporates there was no concrete info neither was there any visibility.

I then came across this blog where the author gives pretty detailed info about how to go about getting WiMax Broadband from Reliance.

The interesting (sad) bit is that the speeds are 150kbps or 300kbps and in my book does not qualify for the status of "Broadband" when BSNL itself is offering 2mbps wired connections.

I am also wary of trusting Reliance. Even today Reliance does not mention WiMax as one of its Services, so I guess we are no better off than before.

China

Got back from my first visit to China a couple of days ago. When I think of Beijing, a few words come to mind...Unexpected...Tasty...Old & New...Language...

Did not get around to much "sightseeing", but spent about 4 hours in the forbidden city without a guide and was mesmerized. I desperately wanted a better camera and the tourist infestation to disappear. Still managed to get a few snaps without people in them. Some pictures are in the album link below...



I am amazed by the food there. For an extremely finicky eater like me, the fact that I tried so many dishes of things that had walked, crawled, swam, flew etc. is a testimonial in itself. Also tried some Chinese Wine which boasted of 57% alcohol. It was mind blowing...

All said and done...definitely on my list for a holiday.
